During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.
My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.
Be Beautiful Inside & Out
Here are some concepts that we will explore during our work together:
Bio-individuality™: The concept of bio-individuality is that each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background. I use a personalized, holistic approach to ensure that you will have great success!
Primary Food™: It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.
Integrative Nutrition™ Plate: The Integrative Nutrition Plate emphasizes the importance of local and organic produce, whole grains, high-quality proteins, plant-based fats, and water. It shows you how a plate should appear at mealtime and emphasizes the importance of proportions and portion size. To complete the picture, the plate is surrounded with lifestyle factors that create optimal health: relationship, career, physical activity and spirituality. I’ll introduce you to some of the healthiest foods on the planet and teach you how to find what’s healthiest for your unique body!
Be Beautiful Inside & Out
There I was, 6 months pregnant with my second child, a baby girl, who would be the missing puzzle piece to completing my family. Sure I was anxious, but I had been through a pregnancy before and felt as this run would be far easier. As my husband and I began preparing for Genevieve's arrival I wasn't feeling like myself. , All of a sudden, I was waking up spinning with double vertigo on an all too regular basis. Once I realized this had become a long term, if not chronic, condition my doctors and I strategized that I would suck it up and postpone treatment until after Genevieve's birth.
Genevieve was born a happy and healthy baby. Mommy, on the other hand was a different story. We began treating the vertigo and each step was more dibilitating than the one before. It is no exaggeration when I tell you I must have tried a half dozen different pills, a multitude of combinations and countless dose adjustments. Nothing was working; I felt helpless and guilty that I couldn't care for G or her brother. Whatever this was, it was causing me to fail. And if anyone knows me, they know I'm a fighter.
Daily migraines, brain fog, nausea and spins persisted and wreaked havoc on our household. I had to take some control back. I began a daily journal where I would log everything I was putting into my body, my sleep pattern from the night before, and even the weather. I was desperate to find the trigger before I had lost it all. After 3 months, it became absolutely clear that the old adage was true: you are what you eat. Food was my trigger.
With minor tweaks I was able to control my health of mind and body. Why hadn't anyone told me this? All those doctors were so quick to prescribe when all I needed was a lifestyle change; one that would ultimately benefit the health of my husband and kids as well.
Inspired to help others, I enrolled in Nutrition school and continue to make it my mission to spread this word. Whether you or someone in your family suffers from a chronic illness, I invite you to join me on my journey. You won't find wellness in a pill; but living and eating healthily is a sacrifice worth making for yourself.
